about

We avoid to talk about the unpleasant things of being a human. We dispose them into Tartarus – the personified part of the underworld, located in the deepest region of Hades. We rather hide our flaws and mistakes, reject the unlovable in us and we tend to think: “It is their fault, never ours.”
We shirk the responsibility for what we do not want to do, think or feel and pass the buck to these figures that we create just for this purpose. These figures must hold all knowledge and wisdom about the human being. Thus, let's better ask Hades.

lyrics

All the way down,
where you can’t hear your voice,
…no, there’s a single sound.

Oh, where we dump our sins,
is where he’s cursed to be.
We need our whipping boy
solely in order to avoid….

Oh once upon a time we were afraid
to call his name.
But nowadays it’s overdue
to name the facts even they are cruel.
Although he’s stern,
but he’s still just.

No, he’s not outside of you,
Hades is much more a truth of you.

Hades.

Hades is a genius like metaphor of mankind.
Our aim is to be pure.
But purity’s still a fairytale…
The suppressed contains interesting tools.
We need solutions for the mess we’ve done.
Opportunities are mostly where
we buried all the old undone.

the bottomline is a multi-genre music project from Cologne admired for their captivating “melancholic-sweet-cathartic” sound. Franzis Lating and Johannes Elia Nuß draw on alleged contrary musical traditions and combine them with great keenness to experiment to a “highly individual, novel experience", that morphs somewhere between Jazz, Classical and electronic music. ... more
